Venue: Aurora Nova @ The Assembly
Low Down
This troupe of three rampage through sketches and songs taking a light-hearted look at the processes of death.
Review
This high-energy show has three actors who like the best clown trio have a great rapport with one another, falling out and falling in love in the space of seconds.
The piece takes as its premise the rather strange theme of death and decomposition, but perhaps the company name of Decay Unlimited makes this a little less surprising!
Highly made up, with white faces and rouged cheeks, the company sing dance and cavort around the stage, talking and singing in a mixture of French, Spanish and English. There are strip-teases and shootings, songs and breakdancing, and all are somehow connected to the central theme of decomposition - because, we are reliably informed, it is something that will happen to all of us!
This show is very strange, but somehow it works, and is highly enjoyable and humourous. The cast have huge commitment to the piece, and the dance of the body bags at the end yields a surprise that you will just have to wait and discover.
